Peace of Mind
It Doesn’t Rely on Your Internet
A common worry with wireless alarms is the Wi-Fi. AirShield sidesteps it entirely: the sensors talk to the hub over their own dedicated radio network, not your home Wi-Fi. So if the internet drops out, your alarm stays armed, keeps detecting and still sounds the siren.
The internet only ever pushes alerts to your phone. If you want those to keep coming through during an NBN or power outage, we can add an optional 4G SIM as backup — supply your own or we’ll provide one, and we’ll fit it either way. Battery backup keeps the whole system live through blackouts too.

Do the batteries need changing often?
Not often at all. The sensor batteries last 3+ years, and the system tells you in the app well before one needs replacing — so there are no surprises. A hardwired alarm is generally recommended for a service every couple of years anyway, so in practice a wireless system like this needs looking at less often, not more.
How is it better than a conventional alarm like Bosch or Paradox?
Conventional systems mostly do arm/disarm from the keypad. To match what AirShield does out of the box, they need a bolt-on RF module for keyfobs and a network module for an app — plus the hardwired install. That adds cost and complexity for a more limited result. AirShield gives you full app control, keyfobs, camera and intercom integration and visual verification as standard.
How does it compare to Ajax?
Both are excellent modern app-based systems — we install Ajax too. Capability-wise they’re very close; AirShield generally comes in at better value for the same result, and it’s the natural pick if you’re running Dahua cameras. We’re happy to talk through which suits your home and budget.
Can I add users and change PIN codes myself?
Yes — all from the app in seconds. Add a code for a cleaner or a guest, remove it later, or change a PIN whenever you like. No standing at the keypad following a confusing sequence like older alarms make you do.
Does the alarm rely on my home Wi-Fi?
No. The sensors connect to the hub over their own dedicated radio network, not your Wi-Fi. Your alarm stays armed and keeps detecting even if the internet drops out completely — the connection is only used to push alerts to your phone.
What about a blackout or NBN dropout — do I need a SIM?
Detection and sirens keep working locally regardless, and battery backup keeps the system live for hours during a power cut. A 4G SIM is only needed if you want phone alerts to keep coming through while the NBN is down, and it’s completely optional. We can supply a SIM or fit one you bring yourself.
